Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed by the label's the first artist of female gender for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Dreamville Records released her debut album titled Pho in the month of October 2016 where she started to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. On July 21st, 2015, Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes song Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it together with Rihanna. She was officially signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. On the release album Revenge of the Dreamers II She was on the track Backseat with Cozz. On October 21, 2016, her debut EP was released under the name Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she was able to guest feature on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video came out on the 5th. In November, she dropped the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then on the 13th of November, two brand new singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It already has nearly three millions views on YouTube within the first week. In support of the track she performed in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
