Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October of 2016 Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. This was the moment that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self released single Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time was interested in having her perform on Rihanna references. The 8th of December was the day she announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th of July, 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a an accompanying music video. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then released two more singles called No One or Pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same title. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 to accompany the track. Within one time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
