Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she garnered the Emmy Award. Also, she is known for her role in the drama series All My Children Philly CSI: Miami as well as Army Wives. Delaney has a father who was an executive at the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. As a child, Delaney fantasized about becoming a reporter for the court. The first time she began modeling was in highschool and eventually gained commercial roles when she moved into New York. She starred in 1981 as a naive teen in All My Children. Delaney appeared in a number of television shows, films and dramatics since then. Delaney has not lived a good or satisfying personal life. She has also experienced two failed marriages, and has struggled with alcohol addiction. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her only son.
